For The Love Of Guccione, Keeton & Penthouse

Today’s the day for the big Bob Guccione erotica auction (previously mentioned here). One of the Mike’s from the UK emailed to ask me if I was bidding — and if so, what I was most interested in. “If we promise not to bid against you,” he said, “Will you tell us what you’re most interested in?”

While its true that those with bidding paddles are not interested in tipping their hands (for fear it will mean they will have to bid higher), the honest truth is I won’t be bidding today. It’s not that I’m thinking it’s all too rich for my blood (and making the mistake people likely did with The Maltese Falcon this week), I simply found out about the auction too late to budget for it.

[Funny how I receive dozens of emails each week pitching stuff I have no interest in writing about here, but folks with an exciting historical erotica auction fail to find me or contact me. (Insert sad face here.)]

However, in the interest of addressing the question of what I would be interested in… Oh, if anyone here wants to bid & give their auction winnings to me as gifts is certainly welcome to do so. *soft sly grin and a peep from coy lowered lashes*

I love to collect ephemera, and what could be neater than Bob Guccione’s binder full of Penthouse versus Playboy covers?

Any of the ads — especially those taking on Playboy…

And, of course, really early beginnings of Guccione’s work would be awesome, like the original Gucci Girls ads.

Guccione was known for his jewelry, so this “figa fist” pendant on a chain would be glorious! (Ties to the Black Hand too, maybe?)

And what smut collector wouldn’t want Bob Guccione’s Brass Penis Netsuke Paperweight?

Combining the best of personal and professional, Guccione’s planner:

I’d also fancy something belonging to Kathy Keeton. This photo would be lovely…

Better yet, this snake bracelet of hers. (If there were but a photo of her wearing it or other provenance, I would probably have forgone the car payment or something and bid!)

If I got both the chain and the bracelet I might just die. Seriously.

I wouldn’t complain if I got either of these works by Hajime Sorayama…

Now, I’d love to hear from you… What would you get? What did you get? Share!
