What Silent Porn Star Has Been Reading

Just in case you don’t get PRISM reports, here’s a link round-up of what I’ve been reading (in terms of sex history) recently:

John Coulthart‘s review of Peter Brook’s film The Marat/Sade (1967).

Fairyland: Growing Up with a Gay Dad in 70s San Francisco at Band Of Thebes.

Irv O. Neil writes about a porn writer’s mind-set, circa 1982:

[T]hirty years ago I was in the process of convincing myself, as I got more and more entrenched as a porn professional, that writing about sex could have the same emotional and cultural resonance as writing about boxing or other more mainstream topics, like stuff by famed journalist A.J. Liebling

Speaking of Art Amsie & pinupscheck out this coverage in The Milwaukee Journal, October 15, 1976.

Nice piece on Art Amsie! I liked the line about how the Elvgrens went for $1000 back then.

And thanks for the link to my post. You pointed out the most important line in the post, too, where I explain what I think I was doing by writing that article so long ago.
