“Pornography For Profit” Concern of P-TA Group

“The extent and the influence of the smut peddler in the Syracuse community” was the theme for a meeting, according to the Syracuse Post Standard (March 8, 1965).

Nicholas J. Esce, attorney, and member of “Citizens for Decent Literature,” will speak and introduce two specially produced films “Perversion for Profit” and “Pages of Death.”

Is it not weird that profiting from smut is the problem here? Profit is worse that just liking it. And a bigger problem than those people dying from “pages.” Pages that kill, now that is indecent literature.

No word on who brought the refreshments (always one of my favorite things in old newspapers).

  1. Muddy says

The film was re-cut/edited to promote pornography, or perhaps to make a statement about the power of editing. You can watch it here: http://archive.org/details/come_join_the_fun2004 It’s quite funny if you watch the original propaganda film first.
