Hi :)

Thank you. You know, I never thought Ernest Hemingway to be a romantic man. Love his work, see him as one of the most interesting American authors. He's a bit, okay he's an idol for me, and this story was something that caught me by surprise.

I've never read Hemingway (thank gawd I'm anonymous to put that here lol) and always thought of him as wildly careening about in pain and lonlieness. Sort of like Marilyn. Though I'll consume most things Monroe, not Hemingway... Maybe it's the connection to another female, that the emotions resonate somewhat? But your post, the news on the letters, makes me rethink things -- Not so much change my opinion of Hemingway, but my interest in him. Hey, you've got me thinking, "Must read Hemingway"!

I loved how your post also covered the matter of handwritten letters. As a collector I swoon over books with old letters stuck in them (typically this is the only way I've received these old beauties -- others covet letters, especially series of them -- so they are go too high for me). And I miss the old days of letter writing. I keep telling myself that a blog can do the same thing, but not only is the texture different, but it's instantaneous. Damn instant gratification ruins the anxiety and anticipation one feels when one drops a letter in the mail and must wait for the reply... Will he like it? Will he reply? What will he say?!

To know that Heminingway and Deitrich (who fascinates me anyway, that woman) lingered in such postal longing... Ahh, now that's sweet seduction...

So, again, thank you for your post -- and for stopping by here too!
